Prevention
Forge Evolution | Colorado Springs Teen Court is stronger than ever. Committed to offering preventive work, we are now offering young people the opportunity to participate in our specialized classes without a previous offence. This evolution of our organization provides valuable support to young people before they face more serious challenges, helping them build positive outcomes for the future.
Our Class Offerings
Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30, all year.
We accept Medicaid (CCHA and Colorado Access).
Aspiring Resilient Teens (A.R.T)
For ages 10-18. $60 for 2 classes.
A.R.T stands for Aspiring Resilient Teens. This program will meet for 2 weeks for a total of 4 hours. This class focuses on psycho-education, peer support, and coping strategies to manage their challenges they face by utilizing creative arts activities and group discussion on teen related topics.
Alcohol & Drug Awareness Panel for Teens (ADAPT)
For ages 10-18. $60 for 2 classes.
Designed to teach the consequences of using drugs and/or drinking. This is a 2-week class for a total of 4 hours. This class is appropriate for any participant who has a drug or alcohol related case. The first class is run by a police officer who explains what it means to be in trouble with drugs. The second class allows participants to watch a movie featuring a former Teen court defendant sharing her story about drug abuse while incorporating information regarding long term effects of drug and alcohol use. This class focuses on understanding the ramifications of using drugs and/or alcohol with the goal of decreasing the use of substances.
Community Impact Panel
For ages 10-18. $60 for 1 class.
This is a 2-hour class focused on shoplifting and designed to help understand the negative impact of their crimes and provide a positive outlet for panel members to share their personal experiences and educate offenders about the physical, emotional, and financial consequences of the crime.
Life Skills
For ages 13-18. $60 for Basic, $120 for Advanced.
Basic Life Skills is for first years and sophomores in high school. In this 2-week class for a total of 4 hours, participants learn basic skills of communication, physical health and safety, emotional health, self-awareness, goal setting, and social harmony.
Advanced Life Skills are for juniors and seniors in high school. In this 4-week class for a total of 8 hours, participants learn about financial planning, job searching, resume skills, manner and dress, and mock interview skills.
Make It Clear
For ages 10-18. $60 for 1 class. Offered quarterly.
This is a 1-time class that lasts for 2 hours. Make It Clear completes activities to enhance their understanding of boundaries and communication regarding healthy and unhealthy relationships. They will learn how to utilize open communication, mutual respect, and sexual boundaries.
Straight Talk
For ages 10-18. $60.00 for 2 classes.
This is a 2-week class for a total of 4 hours. The first class features a police officer and, the second, a former gang member who share their stories about their past choices and how they informed where they are today. They encourage conversation about the impact that someone's choices can have, issues of substance use, and advice on how to act in future high risk settings.
Respect, Accountability, Growth, Empowerment (R.A.G.E)
For ages 10-18. $60 for 1 class.
This is a 1-time class for 2 hours. R.A.G.E encourages open discussion about anger, respect, and trust. In a circle format, participants support and learn from each other as they identify healthy coping mechanisms, take accountability, and build self-esteem.
